OpenIoT got great visibility at the huge CeBIT fair in Hannover in March 2014. In the Fraunhofer booth we established a special interest section dedicated to the Internet of Things. OpenIoT was presented among other Fraunhofer research activities dedicated to sensor data acquisition, semantic annotation and reasoning. Dr. Hylke van der Schaaf represented Fraunhofer IOSB and OpenIoT. Many interesting talks got us the feedback that the Internet of Things is very well recognized and there is a fast growing demand for powerful architectures and solutions like OpenIoT.Within the CeBIT Conference Program, Dr. Thomas Usländer highlighted another fascinating perspective for OpenIoT. In his talk (German Title “Auf dem Weg zu einem Industrie 4.0 Referenzmodell”) he illustrated the application of the principles of the Internet of Things to the domain of industrial production. It was pointed out that the efficient and scalable capabilities of OpenIoT could be a key enabler to hold and process the context information required for innovation within the future industry.
